Set
amidst a 30 acre agricultural farm, with panoramic views of the surrounding
rolling hills, this beautiful restored farm building is an excellent
base for touring the Sousa Valley region and the Douro Basin which
is classified as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The Portugal
villas has a lovely atmosphere with stylish and
comfortable furnishings. Each of the four bedrooms is privileged to its own ensuite bathroom. The spacious covered outdoor terrace - with barbecue and a large table for al fresco dining - leads the way through wide lawns to the spectacular oval swimming pool set amongst the vineyards. Within the estate, there is a Manor House offering Bed and Breakfast accommodation, a small restaurant open for the guests (including those staying in the villa), and a conference / banqueting room with various cultural activities during the
summer months. The guests accommodation is completely independent.
The charming town of Amarante - set on the banks of the Tamega river - is a short drive away. Here you will find a wide choice of shops, bars, restaurants and an 18 hole golf course. The Tamega river, whose journey begins in Spain, is the longest tributary of the river Douro and flows through the heart of this beautiful town. The World Heritage site of Porto, where you will be able to visit the worldwide famous Port wine cellars, is about a 30 minute drive away.
Accommodation (a two storey house):
Ground floor: Comfortable and spacious living / dining room with sofas, satellite TV and an open fireplace. Guest toilet with shower. Fully fitted kitchen with a microwave and dishwasher.
First floor: Double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. Two twin bedrooms each with ensuite bathroom. Spacious twin bedrom with ensuite shower room.
Exterior: Spacious covered terrace with barbecue for al fresco dining. The large swimming pool (11 metres long and 6 metres wide) is set in well kept, spacious lawned gardens surrounded by vineyards. The depth is from 1 to 1.70 metres. Pool side shower. Guests have the use of the communal games room in the
main house. |
