Accommodation: The Pousada has 36 Rooms: 7 are Doubles and 24 are Twins, one of which has a mezanine. Some of the double and twin rooms, have small balconies. One of the double rooms has a view to the church and the public garden in front of the Pousada. This room, the room with a mezanine and another one with a private garden are characterised as superior rooms. There are also 5 suites, one of which is a duplex, the suite D. Sebastiao, another has a terrace and a private garden, the suite Almansor, and two others have a small balcony, the suites Santiago and Frei Sam Pedro. One of the rooms has conditions for disabled people. All the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, mini-bar, telephone, cable TV and LCD , hair drier,internet. Pousada History: Graca Convent in Tavira was once the Convent of the Cloistered Augustinian Nuns, which was founded by King D. Sebastiao around 1569. It stands on the castle hill on the site of what was once most likely the Jewish quarter. Its most noteworthy features are the 16thand 17th century Renaissance cloister, the façade facing the main square and the central staircase, both in baroque style. Archaeological traces of Islamic origin were discovered during the restoration work. As a result, the plans were changed to include the finds in the building, where they are now partially visible from the bar. The design includes a multi-purpose hall (in the old church). History of Tavira: Tavira is the most typical cities of Algarve, which acquired vestige of ancient civilizations; it was a Phoenician village, it was habited by the Romans and an important city during the Muslim occupation. Bathed by the Gilao River, is situated right in the Ria Formosa, 30km from the airport of Faro and 160 Km from Sevilha. The region is characterized by the many sunny days that invite anyone to explore the region, in a relaxing way and in contact with the best of what the country has to offer. Banquets & Other Events: The Restaurant presents an L configuration, composed by 2 areas that can be independent. It is also possible to expand the services until the cloister (open-air) and the terrace. The Bar Tavira is positioned next to the restaurant, in the cloister entrance and with direct access to the rooms, has the area of 130m2, an extension to the cloister and a terrace that serves the pool. Meetings & Conferences: Equipped specially to satisfy the actual necessities, the Pousada has Meeting and Banqueting Rooms, with the total area of 612 m2 . All rooms have natural light and Wireless Internet (except the restaurant), besides the complementary and essential services.
