The Pousada has 7 Twin rooms with view to the dam, 4 Double rooms with view to the mountain, 1 Suite with view to the dam, and 7 Twin rooms with iew to te mountain (2 of which are interconnecting). All rooms have private bathroom and are equipped with air conditioning, mini-bar, telephone, cable TV, hair-drier, bathing gowns.
Pousada History: The original building where today the Pousada is located was constructed jointly with the dam, which was inaugurated in 1969. Initially it was built to accommodate the engineers who were working on the dam, later taken over by the Enatur and reopened as a Pousada de Portugal in 1979, with reduced lodging capacity of 6 rooms only. In May 1994, the Pousada closed for works of remodelling under the trace of the Architect Correa Guedes, reopening in May 1996, already with 19 rooms The official inauguration happened one year later, in May 1997. A scene of extraordinary beauty, where the natural landscape and the works of man coexist. With an unusual situation, looking at the dam and surrounded by mounts and valleys, covered of intense vegetation. From its balconies and swimming pool, the magnificent sight invites you to relax. It is a quiet place, ideal for those who like hunting, fishing, water sports or simply relaxing in perfect integration with nature. The name, such as the dam, comes from the population nearby, Santa Clara-a-Velha. This village of Clara-a-Velha Saint, about 4 km from the Pousada, has 1000 inhabitants. The valley covers the streets of the village and it is possible to contemplate the popular architecture and to talk with the inhabitants. The traditional commerce also sends regards. The Pousada is very close to the Natural Park and the Costa Vicentina, where the beaches are very appreciated and well known. This region boasts beauty as it is yet unspoilt. About 40 km from the Pousada is the village of Odemira with its typical white houses and gardens that invite to a pause in the shade. The river runs quiet and in the estuary, the fortress of Vila Nova de Milfontes watches the port and the entrance of the river, once encountered by pirates. The beaches are peaceful and uncrowded. One or another port of fish artisan and the Sardao Handle, with its lighthouse, complete this spectacular natural landscape. Bathed with a rich sea, this region has a wide gastronomic tradition in fish and shellfish.
